Mental catharsis, yes…frustrating, even more so. So I’ve discovered that the tea was a bad idea, it loosened the fibers of the paper and the result was ink bleeding everywhere…no tea soaked paper. Maybe I can soak it after I’ve finished it, with caution of course. I also discovered a lack of patience on my part for imperfections. After six sheets I have finally decided to just move forward despite insignificant trivialities that I would consider error. Amazing enough, after moving forward past those little details, they start to get lost in the complexities of the whole composition. So I will press on. I am currently on the header, I’ve not started the body yet.

So…I’ve begun. I have my calligraphy pen. I have my inkwell. I have paper that has been soaked in tea, for colorizing. And I have a table set up in my basement. It should be quite the mental catharsis.

Lately I’ve had this strange desire, I’ve been itching to get an inkwell pen and transcribe the Declaration of Independence. For no reason other than to do it, then I’ll frame it and then I’ll hang it.

What a powerful document, a declaration of freedom, announcing to the whole world that it is your God given right to rule yourselves. That if you so wish you may do away with any body that presides over you and that has failed in its obligation to provide.

“it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it”, I can’t help but appreciate the levity of that message…
